Hello, I’m Jess - the mum, teacher and creator behind Wonder Days.

Wonder Days began with me wanting to find a way to support my own son - in a way that felt natural, playful and enjoyable.

I’m a Prep teacher of more than 10 years, so I knew how important rich language, stories, background knowledge and playful experiences are in the early years. But when my own son experienced speech and language delays, I suddenly found myself looking at those things from a completely different perspective.

I wanted to do everything I could to support him before school - but I also didn’t want learning to feel forced, repetitive or like another job for either of us.

I started looking for something that brought together the things I knew mattered with the things my little boy actually loved.

Real-world knowledge and imagination. Stories and play. Rich vocabulary and simple language. First sounds and rhyme. Lots of opportunities to talk, think and retell.

And I wanted something that could fit naturally into our everyday lives - something we could explore together, put away, and come back to whenever we felt like it.

I couldn’t quite find what I was looking for, so I started creating it.

As I did, I started noticing little changes.

The right words became easier to find. His sentences became longer. Stories became easier to retell. Most importantly, his confidence grew.

And as Wonder Days evolved, so did my idea of what these resources needed to be.

I realised I didn’t want to create something that felt like a big activity to work through. I wanted something small, simple and beautiful that we could pick up whenever we felt like it - explore together, put away, and revisit again and again.

That’s where Wonder Cards were born.

Each collection invites children into a little world filled with knowledge, stories, characters, language and play. They can be explored in any order, revisited time and time again, and woven naturally into everyday life.

Today, I create these little worlds for young children and their grown-ups - from the seashore to the forest floor, the meadows to hidden burrows.

Behind every Wonder Card is the teacher in me, thinking carefully about the words children hear, the knowledge they are building, the questions they are asked, the stories they retell and the connections they make.

But behind it all is also the mum in me - wanting learning to feel less like “let’s practise this” and more like “come and look at this!”

Because I’ve come to believe that some of the most meaningful learning happens when children are simply absorbed in a little world of their own.

That is what I hope Wonder Days can offer.

Small, beautiful, knowledge-rich resources that give children something to talk about, think about, imagine and play with — while quietly building the foundations for literacy along the way.

Wonder Days is still a small, family-created business, and every resource begins with the same question:

“Would I want to share this with my own children?”

If the answer is yes, it makes its way into the Wonder Days world.
